We are interested in people, places and the relationships between them: the things we build, make, inherit, practise, exchange, remember and change.

Our enquiries can begin anywhere: with a place or a community, a market or a livelihood, an object, an idea or an everyday way of doing something.

We study things in context, looking at the relationships that give them meaning and the forces that cause them to change.

What follows need not always take the same form. An enquiry may remain research. It may become a publication, a tool, a platform, a marketplace, or something we have not imagined yet.
